Nasarawa state Governor, Abdullahi Sule has flagged off the sales of fertilizer for the 2020 dry season farming in the area.
The event which took place on Thursday, was held at the premises of the State Agricultural Development Programme (NADP).
Speaking at the Occasion,governor Abdullahi Sule said his administration will do all it could to create a conducive atmosphere as well as support Farmers to enable them carry out their chosen occupation.
Represented by his Deputy, Mr. Emmanuel Akabe, the governor said Agriculture is presently a big employer of Labour, adding that his administration decided to key into it with the intention of creating job opportunity for the people, so as to reduce the rate of unemployment in the state.
The governor who announced the sale of a bag of fertilizer for the cost of #4000, advised the beneficiaries to make proper use of the commodity.
Sule who cautioned coordinators and all those that would be vested with the responsibility to handle the sales of the fertilizers to be transparent in their dealings, threatened to deal with anyone found wanting during the exercise.
Earlier, the state commissioner of Agriculture and Water Resources, Prof. Otaki Alanana, said the distribution of fertilizer to dry season farmers was government effort to ensure all year round food production in the State.
The commissioner who said the state government desire is to sustain food production, called on the all dry season farmers to make use of the fertilizer effectively to enable them boost their productivities.
He said over 200 farmers are expected to benefit from the 42,000 bags of 240 Metric tones of fertilizers that has been provided.
