Niger State government has disclosed that it is not unaware of the challenges confronting the State Football team, as all hands are on deck to provide the much needed support in order to ensure that the team bounce back to reckoning of Nigeria top flight division.
This was made know by the Commissioner in charge of Sports and Youth Development Mr Emmanuel Umar who was an unanticipated guest at the Area 3 Playing pitch. Abuja.
Niger Tornadoes football Club engaged their counterpart from the Road Safety football club in a friendly to fine tune the team ahead of NNL resumption date.
The Commissioner remarked that based on his passion to see that the team succeeds, informed his decision to visit the team without any notice, adding that he has had so much about the team, but advise the Technical Crew and Players to remain focus in their poise to return to elite league by the end of the season.
He said the State governor Abubakar Sani Bello who is a passionate sport lover and number one supporter of Niger Tornadoes is ready to render his support to the team at all times.
This he added was in spite of other demanding state matters, however assured that he would relay the teams challenges to the Governor for immediate actions.
He disclosed that the Ministry is into talking terms with some corporate organizations in trying to explore avenues of securing partnership for the club that will be beneficial to both parties in the long run.
Mr Emmanuel Umar said, in the area of facility upgrade, critical attention has been turned to improvement of sports facilities, which remains prerequisite for the development of the games.
Responding, the Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes Abubakar Bala Mohammed expressed delight for the commissioner’s visit, saying it will serve as moral booster to the entire team.
Coach Bala appealed to the Commissioner to wade into the issue of financial challenges confronting the team, using his good office. He explained that the team has assembled quality players which he said with right support and motivation will deliver on the objectives of the club which are; returning to Premier League and going one better in the Aiteo Cup.
He said the task at hand is daunting, especially the promotion ticket, considering the caliber of teams in Group A2 of Nigeria National League and the financial strengths of other competing teams in the Group.
Coach Bala said as a result of the crunch financial difficulty the team is in, no single kobo has been paid as match bonus to the players and therefore solicit for government assistance.
