NASIEC set to conduct Gangaren Tudu bye election

Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) has scheduled November 14, 2020 for bye election in Gangaren Tudu electoral ward of Keffi Local Government Council.

This followed the death of the Councillor representing the area, Adamu Saleh on September 18, 2020 after a brief sickness.

Chairman of the Commission, Ayuba Wandai Usman, made this known during a Media briefing in Lafia, the State Capital.

According to him ” the Commission has by the powers conferred on it therefore has fixed Saturday November 18, 2020 for the Councillorship bye election in the Ward, NASIEC is elaborately preparing to conduct a free, fair and credible election”.

Usman said all Political Parties that would participate in the election will be treated equal and their candidates a level playing ground to enable them test their popularity.

He said Leadership of the Commission would meet with Political parties next Monday as well as lift the ban on campaigns preparatory to the election while October 22 has been fixed for training of Electoral Officers.

Meanwhile, the State Electoral Empire has promised to partner with the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to enable it deliver on her mandate.

Chairman of the Commission, Ayuba Wandai Usman, gave the assurance when members of the Chapel paid him a Courtesy Visit in his Office.

According to him” our relationship with the Chapel has been cordial and we intend to continue in that light, we pledge to deliver our mandate whenever the Law empowers us to conduct Councils election, therefore, we need your support to enable us succeed”.
He commended members of the Chapel for their positive Journalistic roles in the state.

Earlier, Chairman of the Chapel, Isaac Ukpoju, who said the visit was to fraternal with the new Chairman and other Commissioners of the Commission, assured that the Union will continue to ensure adequate reports on the activities of the commission.
