The Nasarawa State Monthly Environmental Sanitation enforcement Organ has prosecuted 57 defaulters of Saturday Sanitation exercise in Lafia.
Prosecution Officer in the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Abubakar Mohammed, disclosed this during an interview, shortly after the Saturday Sanitation exercise in Lafia, the State Capital.
According to him the prosecuted people were apprehended at the spot of conducting their personal businesses during the hours of the environmental Sanitation, thereby contravening Section 9 sub Section 2 of the state Sanitation Law.
The Prosecution Officer who reiterated the importance of Sanitation exercise, said at a time like this when Coronavirus and other diseases are causing damage to human lives, the people should endeavour to keep their environment clean.
Abubakar, who explained that the level of compliance to this Month edition was encouraging, said there will be total enforcement and compliance of the Law in the July edition.
According to him, additional security men would be engaged during the July edition to enable enforce the Law.
He called on the people of the state to always keep their environment clean and avoid pouring waste products in drainages to allow free flow of water during this raining session.
Those prosecuted and made to pay various amount of fines includes, owners of 37 Motorcycles and 20 others.
