Olawale Jelili, Ile-Ife.
The Chairman, Ife East All Progressive Congress (APC) Mr Kayode Ogundele has appealed to residents of Ile-Ife to support the ongoing dualization of Ife township roads for the development of the ancient town.
Ogundele made this call in an interview with our correspondent in Ile-Ife.
According to him, the ongoing dualization will bring rapid development to the town and further open the economy to the world.
He described the road project as unprecedented in the history of the town and long awaiting in which the town will have a new look.
The APC chairman said people should stop complaining about their personal business that may be affected by the road rather sacrifice and allow the development to take place when completed will put smile in their faces.
“Any time there is development, some people must sacrifice for it. We need to allow the ongoing dualization to take place because it is a natural phenomenon. It is a natural thing that every society must grow which is inevitable and government decision supersedes personal decision”.
The former council boss opined that those affected will be compensated, stressing that it is an innovation that must be allowed to take place.
He said: Ife has enough land to establish business village which will expand the town and bring development, socially and economically.
Speaking on the state of the party after APC/SDP coalition, Ogundele noted that the party is intact, saying the coalition has politically, economically and socially brings Ife to limelight.
“We are one and this promotes the party. We now learn new style of politics. Though, there may be pocket of differences and those who could not, defect. APC is now a formidable party to recon with in Ile-Ife.
We may have groups/interests within the party based on individual ambition but this does not affect the party as one and this it to be more formidable and stronger”.
The APC scribe stressed that Ife has benefited a lot from the state government which he said was made possible as a result of support given to the present administration in the state, noting that more developmental projects have been earmarked for Ife.
He applauds the state governor for the delivering of dividends of democracy to people and financial management despite meager resources accrued to the state.
Ogundele described the governor as one who has the interest of his people at heart and knows where the shoe pinches.
He said the present commissioners and Special Advisers appointed by the governor were not imported but grassroot/local based politicians/technocrats who understand the needs of the people.
They were people whom we had for long, living together, they were all party men and women. They believed in common goal especially development of the state, Ogundele said.
The APC chairman commended the governor for regular payment of workers salary and other benefits especially their general welfare despite the little resources.
He, therefore, urged people of the state to continuing supporting government and pay their tax for the development of the state.
