Nasarawa Special Adviser donates palliatives to Journalists.

The Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Special Education, Hajia Hajara Danyaro, on Tuesday donated packs of face masks and sanitisers to members of the Nasarawa state Chapter of the Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists.

Presenting the items to the members at the Chapel Secretariat in Lafia, the state Capital, the donor said the gesture was part of her personal support to members of the Union who are also critical stakeholders in the fight against the deadly coronavirus.

According to her Journalists in the cause of carrying out their responsibilities are faced with a lot of things due to the hazardous kind of their job, adding that at a time like this media men need protection from disease while doing their work.

“I have decided to visit you today to give my own kind of palliative though not in cash or food items, I have decided to give face masks and sanitisers to protect you in the cause of reporting the Coronavirus disease”.

She called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items for the sake of their lives.

Responding, Chairman Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists in the state, Isaac Ukpoju, expressed gratitude to the governor’s aide for the donation.

The Chairman who stated that journalists are also at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic but are given less attention, said the items will go a long way in protecting his members from contacting the disease in the cause of carrying out their duties.

He called on other spirited individuals and groups in the state to emulate what Hajia Hajara Danyaro has done.
