Kwara State government has pledged to support all the people displaced by flood in Pategi, headquarters of Pategi Local Government Area of the State
The pledge was given by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kaypde Alabi when he paid a sympathy visit to Etsu Nupe of , Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Bologi 11 as well as people displaced by flood in Pategi domain on Thursday.
Addressing the monarch who is the vice chairman of the State Traditional Council of Emirs and Chiefs in his palace in Pategi, Alabi said, “I have come to represent my boss, Mallam AbdilRahmpn AbdilRazaq on a sympathy visit to your royal Highness and the people displaced by flood.
” I pledge the support of this administration to the farmers and other people displaced by flood”
Addressing the people of Gbaradogi whose community has been submerged in flood at the bank of river Niger, Mr. Alabi assured them that government would give them necessary palliatives soon because Governor AbdulRahmon AbdilRazaq is an action governor who would act soon.
The Deputy Governor however counsel the riverine communities to take caution in their activities within their environment.
ETSI Nupe, Bologi 11 expresser delight in the Deputy Governor’s sympathy visit, saying it is the second within a week., he however solicited for relief materials to all those people whose properties has been taken over by flood.
The Royal monarch also solicited for a permanent solution to incessant flooding that usually afflict the riverine communities in his domain.
A Gbaradogi community lrader, Mohammed Nda Sado, who spoke through an interpreter in an interview with newsmen while appreciating the Deputy Governor’s visit lamented the destruction that flooding has done to their community.
He said that all their houses, farms and means of livelihood has been submerged in flood making them to suffer untold hardship. He therefore appealed for quick government intervention and assistance.
He equally appealed to government to possibly relocate their community into a new site free of flooding.
Also speaking in the same vein, Kpoto Jubril lamented the hardship caused by flood just as he solicited for government intervention to save them.
