Half Salary: Osun Labour to give Aregbesola 2-month ultimatum

Michael Olanrewaju, Osogbo.

As the leadership of Organised Labour in Osun state meet tomorrow, workers in the state at the meeting may hand down two months ultimatum to Governor Rauf Aregbesola to either start paying full salary as from December, 2017 or plung the state into industrial unrest.

It would be recalled that SPEARGISTS had exclusively reported a meeting holding at a venue in GRA, Osogbo by 9am Monday where Labour leaders are to take decision on issues of modulated salary and delayed promotion.

Tomorrow’s enlarged NLC executive meeting, it was further learnt, will consider some already taken decisions which have been compiled in a letter that will be presented to the government.

A member of NLC executive in the state, who does not want to be named, in a chat told SPEARGISTS that Labour leaders have all the while, exercise patience with government, believing it would not be long when workers would start receiving full salary.

Mr. Jacob Adekomi, the state NLC chairman, in a chat, also said the decision to, as from December reject half salary had already been taken, adding that the Monday meeting will only ratify it.

“We have our decisions already. We are going to allow modulated salary till November. This administration will mark third anniversary of its second term in office by November 27. As from December, we will not take half salary again.

“After our meeting tomorrow, we will visit Head of Service and present him a letter containing all our decisions. He is to present it to the governor. Enough is enough”, Adekomi said.
