Nasarawa state Commissioner for information, Culture and Tourism, Comrade Dogo Shammah has charged Journalists to be objective in their reportage.
Shammah made the appeal on Thursday when new leadership and members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists paid him a courtesy visit in his Office.
The Commissioner who opined that the era of unverified news reporting and pull down Journalism was over, tasked Journalists to apply developmental reportage.
The Commissioner who described Journalists as the bridge between government and the governance, said no serious government would succeed without the roles of Journalists, adding that he will continue to accord Media practitioners the due regard.
Shammah who commended members of the Correspondents Chapel for their doggedness in reporting activities of the state to the outside World, chewed for the support for the APC led administration.
He promised to operate an open door policy as well as work for the actualization of the needs of practising Journalists in the state.
Earlier, Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel of NUJ in the State, Issac Ukpoju who commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for appointing Dogo Shammah as a Commissioner, said the visit was aimed at cementing a cordial working relationship between members of the Chapel and the ministry as well as the state government.
Ukpoju who pointed out some of the challenges confronting the Union, assured that members of the Chapel will continue to support the Commissioner and indeed the state government in the bid to succeed.
