The Emir of Lafia and chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, Justice Sidi Bage, has Charged Journalists to concentrate more on developmental reportage and avoid acts capable of putting the Country on fire.
The royal father gave the advice on Tuesday while playing host to the new leadership and members of the Nasarawa state Chapter of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in his palace.
The traditional ruler who described Journalism Profession as an important tool, said members of the profession has the capacity to use their reporting to mar or build the Society.
He opined that no Nation in the World would experience development if the Media is not properly utilized.
Justice Bage who explained further that the practice of Journalism is a service to the Society, said many has since paid for carrying out this service to humanity.
He appealed to Government to look into the problems of Journalists and work out modalities to address them.
The royal father who commended members of the Chapel for discharging their responsibilities in strict compliance with the ethics of the profession, assured that his emirate Council will continue to cooperate with the Media at all times.
Earlier, Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel in the state, Isaac Ukpoju said the visit was aimed at creating mutual relationship between the Union and the Emirate Council as well as to receive royal blessing from the father of the land
.” We are here to receive royal blessing from you because whatever we are doing, if we don’t come to receive blessing from you will not hold water”.
He assured that members of the Union will continue to sustain the existing relationship with the Emirate Council.
