The Commandant General of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps( NSCDC) Malam Abdullahi Jubril Gana has said that the on going nationwide Forensic, Psychological assessment of the personnel of the Corps with the view to acquaint personnel with various psychological domains and standard operational procedure for test administration , understand individual personnel symptom.
He stated that the context was of overall functioning , as well as determine appropriate professional interventions to promote individual personnel’s wellbeing in particular and the Corps in general.
The Commandant General made this clarification in Minna, Niger State Command of the Corps, added that it will also serve as a means of personnel audit system and to determine the emotional and psychological profiles of personnel among others.
The NSCDC boss, spoke at the Pilot Psychological Assessment Programme for Niger State Command of the Corps, held at the Galaxy Schools, at the Eastern bye Pass, Minna.
He said contrary to common opinion from numerous grounds that “this is not an error examination, a test or an insanity test or test for madness as many people have insinuated, adding that it is neither for promotion, down sizing or right sizing as believed by many, hence the apprehension to pass it at all cost should be shelved by the personnel .
Represented by the head of the behavorial Forensic unit, from the Corps Headquarters in Abuja, Mr. Ogunrinde Emmanuel Opeyemi, the CG, NSCDC, explained that it is for the overall wellbeing of the personnel and it will help in guaging the responsibilities of personnel as appropriate.
He added that he is more concerned with the overall wellbeing of personnel of the Corps physically, medically, emotionally and psychologically, hence the importance of this exercise, while describing Psychology as the scientific study of human mind and its functions , especially those affecting behaviour in a given context, for instance, the mental characteristics of a person or group.
He assured that every personnel of the Corps will be assessed ,using some standardised test batteries that are structured in such a way that gives detailed information necessary for understanding each and everyone’s individual uniqueness.
“A clearer understanding of personnel unique behaviour will help the Corps management make some strategic decisions that will expotenentially increase the achivements already being recorded by the Corps management”, he maintained .
Abdullahi Gana noted that so far, no fewer than 17 States Commands of the Corps have been covered with the Forensic profiling of the personnel, saying, that “he is so much concerned about the overall wellbeing of personnel of the Corps , physically, medically,emotionally and psychologically, hence, the importance of the exercise”.
He said, every personnel will be assessed , using some standardized test batteries that are structured in a way that gives detailed information necessary for understanding their individual uniqueness, stressing that it is expected that personnel answered the quetionaires individually.
Abdullahi Gana opined that a clearer understanding of personnel unique behaviour will go a long way to help the Corps Management make some strategic decisions that will exponentially increase the achievements already being recorded by the Corps management.
