Gov. Sule presents over N105Bn appropriation bill to Nasarawa Assembly.

The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has presented one hundred Billion, Five hundred and Nineteen Million, Nine hundred and fifty Six thousand, eight hundred and fifty seven Naira as 2020 budget proposal to the state House of Assembly for consideration.

Tagged a “budget of Inclusive Development”, the Appropriation Bill has a total sum of Fifty Six Billion, Seven Hundred and thirty three Million, one Hundred and twenty Nine thousand, Six Hundred and ten Naira (#56, 733,129,610) earmarked for Recurrent expenditure. While the sum of Forty three Billion, Seven hundred and eighty six Million, eight hundred and twenty seven thousand, two hundred and forty seven Naira (#43, 786, 827,247) is for Capital expenditure.

Speaking at the event the state Governor, Abdullahi Sule who explained that his action was empowered by Section 121 sub section one of the 1999 Constitution as amended, said the proposed budget shall address the policy action and direction of the state government towards launching the economy of the area on the path of steady growth, progress and development as well as the prosperity of the people of the state.

According to the Governor, the 2020 budget shall set a pace for the realization of his administration developmental objectives based on he yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.

The Governor who commended the Lawmakers for their peaceful disposition and cooperation with the Executive arm of the state, made an appeal for the quick passage of the budget proposal.

Responding, Speaker of the Assembly, lbrahim Balarebe Abdullahi, who commended the state Governor for the timely presentation of the Budget, however frowned at the action of Heads of some Agencies for not honoring the Assembly invitation to appear to defend their budgets.

The Speaker who told the Governor to intervene to enable such persons to appear before the appropriate Committees of the House to defend their budget proposals, said the Assembly may invoke its constitutional powers on them if fail to do so.

He assured that the members will fasten its seatings to give the Budget an accelerated passage.
