The Correspondents’ chapel of Nasarawa State Council of NUJ set for election.

The Credential committee of the correspondents chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nasarawa state Council, said arrangements have been concluded for the conduct of the chapel election this weekend.

A statement signed by the committee chairman and Secretary, Abdullahi Shuaibu and Cheke Emmanuel, which was made available to Newsmen in Lafia on Friday, the committee members who said everything concerning the proposed election have been put in place, assured that the electoral body will conduct a free, fair and acceptable election for the chapel.

The process which is bid to start by 9am on Saturday October 5, 2019 will be at the instance of the Nasarawa State leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, as enshrined in Union Constitution.

The statement added that the proposed election became necessary due to the fact that the three years tenure of the outgoing EXCO will end on Saturday.

Those vying for the chairmanship position of the Chapel and are expected to serve for three years upon election is the immediate past secretary of the Union, Comrade Isaac Ukpoju of NAN and the outgoing Secretary, Rabiu Dogara Omaku of the Universal Reporters.

It would be recalled that the outgoing EXCO, led by Comrade Suleiman Abubakar was elected in 2016 and will terminate on October, 5, 2019.
