As a prelude to the total lockdown due to the the global outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic which has continued to spread, the leadership of Osogbo National Students’ Union (ONSU) in conjunction with Honourable Taofeek Olatinde Badamosi embarked on sensitizing and providing palliatives to the residents of Osogbo.
The sensitization of people on how to prevent themselves from being infected by the epidemic as well as how to curb the widespread of the pandemic cut across all the areas of the city.
This more than ever before became inevitable as a result of the fact that five index cases has been confirmed in the State of virtuous. Thus, it became essential as youth vanguards of the communities and society to key into Government and private sector initiatives to assist the people in the State capital.
It’s a remarkable day as the people of Osogbo feel the outstanding hospitality of this great union. People felt loved as they said that the sensitization came as at when needed.
A unique feature of the programme was that no Street was left out in the sensitization programme as the ONSUITES across the city trooped out street by Street to contribute their qupta in tackling the spread of the perilous disease.
The programme was sponsored and supported with the kind gesture of Hon Taofeek Olatunde Badamasi, the Honourable representing Osogbo State counsituency at the Osun State House of Assembly in tandem with the effort and doggedness of the ONSUITES, the programme has been described as highly successfully.
Palliative items distributed to the people included semovitta, and spaghetti among others to take of people’s complaint of possible hunger during the lockdown period as part of measures to contain and curtail the pandemic spread.
The students also appealed to the state government to see to look into the economy of the state while enforcing lockdown by disallowing the immigration and emigration of people in the state and allow the victim of this epidemic to stay isolated rather than invalidating buying and selling in totality in cities that are yet to have any case of Corona virus as this might result in hunger.
