Percentage payment: Nasarawa NLC kicks.

The Nasarawa State Chapter of Organised Labour has warned Chairmen of Local Government Councils in the area to avoid their secret plan to go back to the doom days of percentage payment.

The State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Yusuf Sarki Iya, who during a Media briefing on Wednesday in Lafia, said there is a plan by the Council Chairmen to pay Seventy percent for the March salary of workers at that tier of government.

Iya stated that the Source was so reliable hence the need for the Organised Labour to come out and condemn the planned action as well as caution them on the expected effect of the proposed plan.

Iya who pointed out that the state Governor Abdullahi Sule has since promised not to carry out percentage payment, stated that such payment will contravene the governors policy and would be tantamount to not fulfilling his promise.

According to him workers in the state are currently expecting the implementation of the new minimum wage and not a cut in their Monthly take home package, warning that in case of any cut in the salaries of Workers, the Organised Labour will not accept, adding that such would lead to another round of Labour disharmony in the state.
