Court restrains Oluwo Adewale Akanbi

from presiding over Jumat and Eid prayers in Iwo.

An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has restrained Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrauf Adewale Akanbi, Telu 1 from presiding over Jumat prayers on Fridays and Eid prayers during Muslim festivities in the ancient town.

The suit No: HOS/M/ 72/19 by Chief Abiola Ogundokun against Oluwo Adewale Akanbi and the Board of Trustees of Iwo Central mosque backed with affidavit by Babajide Siyanbola Esq filed at the High Court registry, Osogbo, Chief Ogundokun sought for an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the king from presiding over Jumat prayers on Fridays as well as Eid prayers during Eid-El-Fitri and Eid-El-Kabir.

This order of injunction being sought was moved by Opeyemi Adewal Esq before Hon. Justice A.O. Ayoola that Oluwo Akanbi as the first defendant and his agents and or privies be restrained as filed in a motion of interlocutory injunction pending the motion on notice.

Justice A.O.Ayoola granted the interlocutory injunction restraining Oluwo Akanbi from presiding over Jumat prayers on Fridays as well Eid prayers during Muslim festivities of Eid-El-Fitri and Eid-El-Kabir in Iwo pending the determination of the motion on notice.

Meanwhile, the court adjourned the motion on notice to August 19, 2019 for hearing.
