The federal government has been called upon to design a template that would make it compulsory for university students to learn a trade during their years of study.

A Management expert Mr Ade Lawal made the call while briefing newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

Mr Lawal said that government should make it mandatory for students to learn a trade to be self-reliant.

According to Mr Ade Lawal, the institute of management was already collaborating with Nigerian Universities to train students on how to become employers of labour.

He said the students would also be thought how to access funds to finance their businesses after graduation.

Mr Lawal noted that if students were thought how to key into entrepreneurship the idea of over-dependent on government for jobs would reduce in our country.

According to him, said that many of the graduates who are not employable would be gainfully employed using the available resources at their disposal.

He however, urged parents to encourage their children to learn a trade while in school before graduating in the school.
