Nasarawa state government has commenced the payment of scholarship allowances to 706 indigent students studying in different tertiary institutions across the Country.
Executive secretary of the state Scholarship Board, Alhaji Danlami Ikpobose made this known during an interview with Newsmen in Lafia, the state Capital.
According to him the State government has made available the sum of one hundred Million, Five hundred and seventy Six thousand Naira for the exercise.
Ikpobose further disclosed that the state government has already paid the sum of 2.7 Million Naira to 9 students studying French language at Cotonou, adding that this is the first time the state is sponsoring her students in that discipline outside the Country.
He explained that the state government is concern about the welfare of her indigent students, hence the payment of Scholarship to alleviate their sufferings
The executive Secretary assured that in no distant time a fresh screening would be done, adding that a plan to review upward the allowances receive by each student is on top gear.
He charged the benefiting students to be serious with their studies and avoid acts that are capable of undermining the state.
