The Federal University of Lafia has produced a total number of 29 First Class graduates in the last four Years.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Muhammad Sanusi Liman, disclosed this at the weekend during the 2015 to 2019 combine convocation ceremony of the Institution in Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital.
According to him, a total number of 1,447 students graduated from the Institution within the period under reviewed, adding that out of which 29 had first Class, 379 got second Class Upper, 696 had Second class Lower.
While a total of 310 had third Class, according to the Vice Chancellor, 33 graduated with Pass Certificates.
The Vice Chancellor who explained that both the students population and infrastructures in the institution has since increased when the present leadership of the University came on board in 2016, said management will continue to work towards improving on the achievements so far recorded.
While commending both the Federal and the Nasarawa State Governments for their commitment and contributions towards the development of the institution, he called on the Federal Government to assist by building a befitting Post graduate School in the University.
In his speech, the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, who commended the federal Government for its commitment to education, said his administration will continue to invest in the education sector due to its importance.
He opined that education remain the bedrock for solving challenges confronting mankind.
Governor Sule who appreciated the achievements so far made in the University, charged the graduands to be good of ambassadors of the institution where ever they find themselves.
Our Correspondent reports that the occasion also witnessed the conferment of honorary Doctorate Honoris Causa on five persons whom the institution authority said have contributed their quotas to the development of education in the Country.
The recipients are, the immediate past Governor of the State, Senator Tanko Almakura, Late Emir of Lafia Isa Mustapha Agwei, represented by his Son, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, Ambassador Ahmad Ghazali and Alhaji Abdus- Samad Ishaka Rabiu.
