Nasarawa kick starts payment of scholarships to 7,000 students'.

Nasarawa state Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has approved the payment of scholarship allowance to 7, 000 students studying in different tertiary institutions across the country.

Executive Secretary of the State Scholarship Board, Honourable Danladi Ikpobose disclosed this on Tuesday during an interview with Newsmen in Lafia, the state Capital.

Ikpobose explained that the Board is going to work strictly with the directive given by governor Abdullahi Sule to pay only students who were screened during the 2015/2016 academic session but was not paid their Allowances during the last administration due to some challenges.

“We are working by the directive of the governor to pay only those students that were screened during the 2015/2016 academic session but were not paid their Allowances as a result of some challenges from the board”.

Ikpobose stated further that “the batch (A) of the screened students collected their scholarship in 2017, this is batch-B and the batch-C would be paid immediately after this exercise”.

According to him, from the arrangement made, Medical Students would be paid N60, 000 each, Pharmacist students N60, 000, students in Law School N100, 000, BSC Education N50, 000 among others.

Ikpobose who stated that the ongoing exercise is bid to last for one month, said a team from the Board would go round tertiary institutions within and outside the state where indigenes of the state are studying to effect the disbursement before returning to the office to attend to those who may not be at the pay point of their institution.

While assuring that security and other logistical arrangements have been put in place to ensure a successful exercise, he charged those who are not part of the benefitting students to be patient, as government is doing its best to capture them in the near future.
