Niger state government says it has concluded plans to diversify its economy through tourism with the beautification of Gurara Water falls and Shagunu resort as a finger on the state’s tourism attraction.
The Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, who revealed this said that a South Africa investor have indicated interest for its development through Public Private Partnership (PPP) and under Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) bases.
She stated that a consultant will give the models of Gurara falls while 10,000 hectares of land has been acquired around Gurara Falls while payment of compensation is on going for the communities around there.
The commissioner explained that already rail has been constructed to enhanced easy movements and safety of visitors while recreational centers to be created as well as a proposed zoo of wild life pack for more attraction for the site.
She also hinted that a consultant is working on the beautification of Shagunu Tourism Site which she described as ‘a finger on the Niger’, adding that the road has been constructed to ease transportation, connected with electricity and bill boards installed for identification while applauding governor Abubakar Sani Bello for the foresight of revenue creation efforts.
