Kwara state police command on Wednesday paraded 18 suspects arrested for various alleged criminal offences like kidnappng, murder as well disturbance of public peace.
Addressing the newsmen, the state Commissioner of police Kayode Egetokun said all those arrested committed the alleged crimes in different parts of the state.
Egetokun explained that the suspect that murdered his friend Jamiu Sulaiman also committed the alleged crime in Lagos and relocated to Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
He noted that the other 16 suspects who are land grabbers were arrested at Egbejila in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state where they were matching their victims and disposed them of their valuable.
The Police Commissioner said the suspects while on rampage matcheted a policeman who was at the area to discharge his lawful duty.
Egetokun added that all the suspects would be charge to court for prosecution as soon as investigations are completed.
In an interview with the suspected Kidnapper ,Adamu Alhaji Bawa denied the allegations of Kidnapping leveled against him.
He said his parents had since relocated from Katsina to kwara state,and that he was arrested in Tsaragi area of the state after attending a village market to purchase food items for his family.
He urged the police authority to closely check the facts of his case and ensure Justice is done, and release him to go and take care of his ailing mother.
While Jamiu Suleiman disclosed that he was working on the tipper truck with his friend in Ikorodu area of Lagos State before he decided to kill his friend and dispossess him of the truck.
He was also arrested with a local pistol.
The 16 suspects arrested for public disturbance denied the allegation saying they are the landowners of Egbejola land who resisted attempt by scrupulous land grabbers from taking over their land of inheritance. They added that the community head of Egbejila was among those arrested just as they accused the police in the area of conniving with land grabbers to cause mayhem in their peaceful community.
