Bandits kills 6 vigilantes in Kagana, Niger State

Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed Six vigilantes men in a renewed attack in Kagara in Rafi local government area of Niger state.

The bandits were said to have attacked at about 7 am blocking the Pandogari highway road.

Unconfirmed sources says that some drivers and passengers were killed and injured during the attack.

A Source who spoke to our correspondent said that various calls to the Police went unanswered leaving the vigilantes to face the bandits which led to the death of their colleagues.

It was further gathered that the vigilantes took the corpses of their colleagues to the Police divisional office in Kagara and started protesting.


Not satisfied with the response of the police to their plight, the vigilantes mobbed the police office destroying their armory and went away with their ammunitions.

The Source said, “the vigilantes took the corpses of their slammed colleagues to Kagara police divisional office, and protested and mobbed the police station, burgled the armory and went away with their ammunitions.

“They were angry that the police did not do anything about the attack or respond to call for help as they left only the vigilantes to battle the bandits which led to the death of some of their colleagues.”

The Niger state Police Command is yet to confirm on the bandits attack or mobbing of their office by the vigilantes.
